What's Inside the October 2020 Quilty Box? Hint: Island Batik!!!

What's that hiding in the chrysanthemums?  It's the October Quilty Box!  I've been eagerly antipicating this one because it features my fellow Island Batik Ambassador, Jackie Kunkel.

Here's a peek at the treasures inside:

Jackie's newest Island Batik fabric line, Mandala Magic.  I've been eyeing these fabrics for a while.  I didn't receive any in my ambassador box, and the colors and designs are so vibrant and fun.

Nine cuts of the Mandala Magic fabrics are included in the Quilty Box.  I just love it!  I'm not sure if I'm going to sew Jackie's included Starburst pattern with these, or just play.

The Starburst quilt is shown on the cover of Bundles of Inspiration.  There's a terrific interview with Jackie where she talks about her inspiration for fabric design, how she became interested in quilting, and more.

This 4-1/2" square up ruler is also included.  I know this will be handy.  I sew so many 4-1/2" square units in my projects.

New sewing scissors.  Always a treat.

A decadent purple shade of WonderFil thread.

And a packet of Soak for hand washing.

Mark your calendars for Monday.  It's the beginning of a new Island Batik Blog Hop.  The theme of this hop is Inspired by Nature.  Every day you can view new Island Batik collections sewn into quilts by the Island Batik Ambassador team.  Plus there will be opportunities to win beautiful new Island Batik fabrics.  My hop day isn't until November 16th.  I hope you'll join me then.  I don't see the hop posted on the Island Batik blog yet, but it should be up sometime today.  Here's the link: Island Batik Blog

What's Inside Quilty Box? September 2020

What's inside the September 2020 Quilty Box?  Take a peek with me!

Disclaimer:  The contents of this subscription box were given to me by Quilty Box.
Oooh!  Look at all these goodies!  I just love receiving Quilty Box in my mailbox every month.  It's so exciting and inspiring.

This month's box is curated by Leslie Tucker Jenison of Wishwell.  This is her new fabric collection, Warehouse District.

These fabrics are amazing!  They're really speaking to my heart.  What do you think?

Here's a closer look at one of the fabrics.  In the interview with Leslie, she says they were inspired by her travels to different cities and visiting the warehouse districts, hence the name.

The pattern for the Shattered quilt (shown here) is inside the Bundles of Inspiration magazine.  I really like this quilt design.  I have seven quilts to sew between now and the end of the year, but I want to make this one, too!

Also tucked inside this month's box, a new pair of Machingers!  Yay!  These are great for free motion quilting.

Check these out!  Mini Magic Clips. It says you can sew right over them ~ say what???  I gotta try that!

And haha on me.  I tore up my studio early this morning, looking for some white thread to repair a button hole.  There was a nice spool of Wonderfil in white, right there, in the Quilty Box on my sewing desk the whole time.  You can never have enough white thread.  Thank you, Quilty Box.

Don't you want to try Quilty Box for yourself? It's so nice to have fabric, notions, and inspiration arrive in your mailbox every month.  And I'm super excited for October's Quilty Box.  Next month's box features none other than my fellow Island Batik Ambassador, Jackie Kunkel!  I can't wait to see what she's put together for October.  It's sure to be colorful and fun.  Click the above ad to visit the Quilty Box website right now.

What's Inside the August 2020 Quilty Box?

What's inside the August 2020 Quilty Box?  Somehow I got behind on my Quilty Box posts. It's almost time for the September box to arrive, and the August box is soooo good!  Well, better late than never, they say.  Here it is:

Disclaimer:  The contents of this subscription box were given to me by Quilty Box.
When you first open Quilty Box, it's like opening a gift.  Everything is beautifully wrapped in tissue.  So nice.

Here's the contents of the August Box.

This box's featured artist is Guicy Guice.  It's his second time in Quilty Box.  I made his quilt pattern, Feathering from the previous box.  I named my version "Happy Scrappy". You can see that project here: Happy Scrappy Quilt

His new fabric collection, Prisim, by Andover is this month's fabric.  So inspirational.  I love the colors and designs in this group so very much.

The Bundles of Inspiration magazine has his Seaglass pattern, shown on the front.  I enjoyed reading the interview with Guicy Guice.  He speaks about his love of color, which I share.  Color has been a lifelong love of mine as well.

The Seaglass quilt has a special acrylic template that is included in this month's box.  What a fun shape.

This seam guide looks handy.  It comes with a little pink chain so you can attach it to something so you don't lose it.  I'm going to keep it close to my machine.  I'm always checking my seams for accuracy.

The Slice Precision cutter has a ceramic blade and claims to be "finger friendly".  I'm sure this is good for cutting around templates, but I may give it to my teenage son.  He sculpts weapons and armor models out of cardboard and normally uses an Exacto knife.  He may get more use and enjoyment out of this tool more than me.

This month's thread is a vibrant variegated green to blend with and accent the fabrics in the Prisim collection.  Just looking at this thread makes me want to sew.

What's Inside the August 2019 Quilty Box?

Disclaimer:  This subscription box was given to me at no cost by Quilty Box.
The August Quilty Box is here!  Are you ready for Autumn?  This box is filled with beautiful Fall sewing inspiration.  You can almost feel a cool crispness in the air when you open the box.  It's a promise of Fall, my favorite time of the year.

This month's featured designer is Kirsten Sevig.  I enjoyed reading the interview with her inside Bundles of Inspiration.  She calls herself a "forever child" and gleans inspiration for her designs from her time spent living in Iceland.

The Sweet Oak fabric collection, by Striped Pear Studio for Windham Fabrics is bursting with fall color and themes!

Just look at these fabulous colors and prints!  Acorns, colorful leaves, cute little worms and snails!
I can't wait to cut into these.

Speaking of cutting, look at this new Olfa Splash cutter in Navy.  It looks sleek in this classic deep blue color.  The Splash cutter features an easy quick change blade - yay!  No more trying to remember which way to screw all those little parts back into place.

Two Frixion gel pens are included this month, one red and one blue.  I've never tried these before.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Wow!  Look at the color of this Wonderfil thread!!!  This vibrant variegated thread is called Tutti.  It's a 50 wt thread.  It will be beautiful for quilting.

Also included is this cute sticker of Striped Pear Studio's logo.  How adorable!  I'll be affixing this to one of my project boxes for a little pop of color.
