Skipping Stones Quilt ~ A Quilty Box Project

I started a new project!

Disclaimer:  The products used in this post were given to me by Quilty Box.
Ragamuffin is SEW excited!

I'm making the Skipping Stones quilt from the November 2020 Bundles of Inspiration magazine in Quilty Box.

This quilt design is by Natalie Barnes.  I'm using her Norma Rose fabrics that were also included in Quilty Box (top fabric in photo), plus a bunch of random neutral fabrics from my stash (bottom fabric in photo).

I was able to use my Accuquilt 8" Qube to cut out some of the pieces.  This made the cutting part of the quilt go super fast.

There are two sizes of HST's (half square triangles) in this quilt.  I used Jackie Kunkel's 4-1/2" Square from another Quilty Box to square up my blocks.  It worked really well.

Just one afternoon of sewing and I had everything cut out.

All of the half square triangles have been sewn and trimmed.

Sew cute small HS triangles before trimming.

My design wall with large and small HST units.

I even had time to begin sewing some of my HST's into blocks.  Woo-Hoo!  This quilt is moving right along.  I can't wait to finish sewing the blocks in my next step.

What's Inside the November 2020 Quilty Box?

What's inside the November 2020 Quilty Box?  Take a peek with me:

Disclaimer:  This Quilty Box was given to me at no cost by Quilty Box.
So much quilty goodness!

This is the Norma Rose Fabric Bundle from Windham Fabrics.

Fat eighths in a variety of colors and patterns.  Fun, fun, fun!

Bundles of Inspiration magazine.  This month's issue includes an interview with Natalie Barnes, three quilt patterns, and the Subscriber Spotlight.

This Norma Rose Postcard has a recipe for Waldorf Salad on the flip side.

This is an interesting new take on the seam ripper.  This one suctions to your table top so you can keep both hands on your fabric.  I'll have to try it out.

A spool of Aurifil thread in pretty variegated brown and white.  Lovely!  I can't wait to go and sew.

Quilting the Crocker Baby Quilt ~ Part One

This is the Crocker Baby Quilt top.  This pattern is by Jeni Baker.  It was included in the May 2020 Quilty Box.  You can read my first post about this quilt here:  Crocker Baby Quilt

Note:  The fabric and pattern for this project were given to me by Quilty Box at no cost to me.
I'm quilting all of the half square triangle sections with back and forth lines over the gray triangle and sunbursts over the yellow triangle.

I'm having fun with the 36 squares, quilting a different design in each one.

I quilted them all freehand, with no marking or rulers.

I'm quilting this project on my Juki TL98E.

I used four different colors of King Tut thread by Superior: Silver Bullet, Obsidian, Edwardian Blue, and Olde Golde.

The batting is Hobbs Heirloom Cotton.

The fabrics are from the Pottery Collection by the Quilting Cowboy for Windham.  I supplemented these fabrics with a few golds and grays from my stash.

I'm having so much fun quilting this project!  I can't wait to finish up and show you the rest of the blocks.  It's like a sampler of quilting designs.

Quilty Box ~ What's Inside the June 2020 Box?

What's inside the June 2020 Quilty Box?  Trail Mix is curious.

Note:  This subscription box was given to me at no cost by Quilty Box.
Potpourri fabric bundle by Quilty Box featured designer, Laura Heine!
Five fat quarters and seven fat eighths.

I didn't realize just how lovely these fabrics are until I opened the package and fanned them out.  Wow!  They are like a fresh breath of Spring air.

You've probably seen Laura Heine's collage quilts.  She talks about them in her interview inside Bundles of Inspiration, plus her pattern to make this quilt is included.

Also this month has an 8 ounce tub of Quilter's Rule quilt soap!  Enough for 16 washes!  I'm excited to try this on my quilts.

A handy new tape measure from Clover ~ Yay!

WonderFil thread in a soft pink color.  Yum!  Time to get sewing.
