Did you see my Island Batik Ambassador unboxing video in my last post? It's so much fun when the boxes arrive. You can also see my video on my YouTube channel, here: Curlicue Creations on YouTube. I'd love it if you would subscribe to my YouTube channel. I'm working on creating more videos for 2021. Thanks so much. Here's some close-up photos of what I received in my Island Batik Ambassador shipment number one for 2021.
Disclaimer: The products in this post were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners at no cost to me.
Plum Pudding, designed by Kathy Engle, for Sherry Shish of Powered by Quilting, 2-1/2" strip pack plus light and dark coordinating yardage. Aren't these purples gorgeous? What a beautiful range of lights to darks. This fabric collection will be in local quilt shops in May 2021.
Four yards each of solid black, white, and gray. This fabric is awesome! It has the same high thread count as the batiks and is a dream to sew with. I use this in many of my projects to complement the bright colors of the batik fabrics.
This is Citrus Sun, designed by Kathy Engle. This fabric will be in quilt shops in February, so look for it soon. It will be featured in my blog hop post on February 3rd. Do you love cats as much as I do? Oh kitty! Then you will love the quilt I made too. Be sure to visit for the blog hop, I'll be having a giveaway of some of this collection as well.
Aurifil Thread continues to be an industry partner for the Island Batik Ambassadors. They generously provided each ambassador with seven spools of thread. The thread colors coordinate with the collections I received. The green spools are 40 wt. and the orange spools are 50 wt.
Schmetz needles sent three packs of needles, some handy info to help choose the right needle for my projects, a notepad, and a cleaning cloth.
Two packages of stash builder strips, one in yellows, and one in black/charcoals. These rolls are 5" wide x width of fabric. Each roll has four different fabrics.
Melody by Claudia Pfeil 10" squares pack, plus two coordinating cuts of yummy yardage. Look at these colors. They are just so vibrant and beautiful. I used this collection in my January project, City Placemats. This fabric will be in quilt shops in February. Run out and get it!
Did you know Island Batik also makes beautiful rayon fabric? If you are a garment sewist you will want to get some of these. I received this 2 yard cut of a purple and pink swirly dot design. I need to get busy and make something for summer.
I also received this big bundle of solids, basics, and blenders that coordinate with the collections I received. Aren't they delicious? These fabrics are always available from Island Batik. I usually have yardage of some of these fabrics in stock in the Curlicue Creations shop. I have precuts available too.
Yardage of one light and one dark fabric to coordinate with the Citrus Sun collection. Reminder: My day on the blog hop featuring these fabrics is coming up next week, on February 3rd.
And here's a little sneak peeky! This yardage coordinates with my "Surprise" fabric bundle I'll be using in the May shop hop. I can't show you the whole collection now, but we can dream about it. It looks festive doesn't it?
Accuquilt sent the Morning Star BOB die along with two mats. I'm super excited to try this block out. I've never made it before, but when you put these blocks together you get a fabulous circular design. There are so many possibilities.
Hobbs sent this Queen size 80/20 black batting. I love this for dark quilts. It doesn't show through and it quilts beautifully.
They also sent Poly-Down polyester batting. I've never tried this one. It's soft and puffy and should be great for quilting definition. Polyester is also a nice batting to use for hand quilting. It's easier to needle through than cotton.
They also sent queen size cotton and a queen size cotton with scrim. I've used both of these batts before and they are excellent. The scrim helps to hold everything together.
And lastly, these three Island Batik buttons. Aren't they sweet? Island Batik - The Best from Bali. I agree. I hope I can inspire you this year to be creative and sew something beautiful every day.
