What's Inside Quilty Box? September 2020

What's inside the September 2020 Quilty Box?  Take a peek with me!

Disclaimer:  The contents of this subscription box were given to me by Quilty Box.
Oooh!  Look at all these goodies!  I just love receiving Quilty Box in my mailbox every month.  It's so exciting and inspiring.

This month's box is curated by Leslie Tucker Jenison of Wishwell.  This is her new fabric collection, Warehouse District.

These fabrics are amazing!  They're really speaking to my heart.  What do you think?

Here's a closer look at one of the fabrics.  In the interview with Leslie, she says they were inspired by her travels to different cities and visiting the warehouse districts, hence the name.

The pattern for the Shattered quilt (shown here) is inside the Bundles of Inspiration magazine.  I really like this quilt design.  I have seven quilts to sew between now and the end of the year, but I want to make this one, too!

Also tucked inside this month's box, a new pair of Machingers!  Yay!  These are great for free motion quilting.

Check these out!  Mini Magic Clips. It says you can sew right over them ~ say what???  I gotta try that!

And haha on me.  I tore up my studio early this morning, looking for some white thread to repair a button hole.  There was a nice spool of Wonderfil in white, right there, in the Quilty Box on my sewing desk the whole time.  You can never have enough white thread.  Thank you, Quilty Box.

Don't you want to try Quilty Box for yourself? It's so nice to have fabric, notions, and inspiration arrive in your mailbox every month.  And I'm super excited for October's Quilty Box.  Next month's box features none other than my fellow Island Batik Ambassador, Jackie Kunkel!  I can't wait to see what she's put together for October.  It's sure to be colorful and fun.  Click the above ad to visit the Quilty Box website right now.

Macaws Quilt Update

I had a few minutes to work on the Macaws quilt this week.  I made a teeny tiny bit of progress!  The blue Macaw is now sitting on his perch.  So cute!  I love it.

I hope I can sew the perches for the yellow and orange Macaws soon too!  To read more about this project, see my first post here:  Macaws Quilt ~ A Work in Progress

Macaws Quilt ~ A Work in Progress

Isn't this the cutest?  I'm working on the Macaws pattern by Elizabeth Hartman from the current Quilty Box.

Disclaimer:  The items used in this post were given to me by Quilty Box at no cost to me.
Here's a pic of how the finished project is going to look.  I think it will be perfect to add a splash of tropical fun to my beach cottage.

Here's a close up look at the background fabric for this quilt.

Have you ever sewn an Elizabeth Hartman pattern?  She has such a cute design style, but there are always a lot of little pieces to cut out.  It's essential to sort and label each piece before you begin sewing so nothing gets mixed up.

A skinny strip of background fabric.

 Small squares of background fabric.

 And more cutting...

 And labeling...and sorting...

I used every little zipper bag available!

This is the gray fabric that will be used for the bird's perches.  I haven't sewn that section yet.

A collection of colorful bird feather fabrics.  Aren't they pretty?

Trail Mix.  She wants her cutting mat back.  She enjoys napping under the warm light.

More fabric for bird feathers.  I love the color and texture of these pieces.

Cutting the last piece!  Time to sew.

I decided to sew all three Macaws at the same time.  The pattern begins with the birds face.  The black square becomes the eye.

I made a mistake right away by mixing up two of the fabrics. Can you see it?  Unsewing - Ugh!

Three Macaw faces.  I love it.

Next, the wings are sewn together in long strips.  Aren't these fabrics just the cutest?  Look at those tigers!  The orange fabric with the curves looks like feathers to me.

 Faces and wings sewn together.

Time to sew some tail feathers.

This is my progress to date.  I hope I can finish this up soon.  It's been fun.

What's Inside the April 2020 Quilty Box?

Hooray!  The April Quilty Box has arrived!  In these unusual days of staying home and social distancing, getting a Quilty Box delivered is even more (if that's possible) fun and exciting to receive in the mailbox.

Disclaimer:  This subscription box was given to me at no cost by Quilty Box.

The fabric this month is inside a zippered bag.  It's the Library fabric bundle from Robert Kaufman.

Inside the bag is this bright orange, white with random dots, and a Ten-Square pack with a yummy variety of colors and prints.

Bundles of Inspiration, Quilty Box's magazine full of patterns, an interview with Elizabeth Hartman, and lots of inspiration comes packed inside Quilty Box every month.

Do you love Elizabeth Hartman's animal quilt designs?  I'm super excited to sew her Macaws pattern.  Isn't it the cutest?  I hope I can find some time to make this one.

A Clover Wonder Clips wrist cushion.  How interesting!  I love using the Clover Wonder Clips for holding my binding in place.  I'll have to try the wrist cushion and see how I like it.

This is a reusable washable lint roller.  I use my lint roller daily, several times a day to keep my sewing area clean and free of cat hair and dust.  This should come in handy.

Feast your eyes on this delicious Wonderfil Tutti thread!  The color combo is so gorgeous, I could just stare at it all day long and be happy.  I can't wait to sew something with this beauty.
