Crocker Baby Quilt Finish

Here's the finished Crocker Baby Quilt enjoying a little sunshine on a hot July afternoon.

Note:  Some of the items used to make this project were given to me by Quilty Box at no cost to me.
I finished it up with a label and a photo session.

I quilted every one of the 36 squares on this quilt with a different design.  Here's a few of them.

 Curvy square in a square.

Swirls and pebbles.  I wish this photo had come out better.  It's such a cute design.

 Skinny vertical lines.

 The center of the quilt.

Chunky ribbon candy, divided with horizontal lines.

Here's the quilt relaxing on the front porch with a pillow.

A little peek at the vintage blue floral fabric I used for the backing.

I used a gold floral print for the binding.  Some of this fabric was also used for the quilt top.

 Pretty folds.

I gifted this quilt to my Dad for his 79th birthday to use as a lap quilt.  Happy Birthday Dad!

Quilting the Crocker Baby Quilt ~ Part Two

This is my newest studio assistant, Sunrise.  He jumped right in and helped me weave in the loose thread ends after I finished quilting the Crocker Baby Quilt.  Did you see my blocks from Part One?  Link to that post here:  Quilting the Crocker Baby Quilt ~ Part One

I quilted a different design in each of the 36 square blocks on this quilt.  I'm not going to show all of them, but here's a few.  This one is curlicues inside a bracket shape with up and down lines on the outsides.

I freehand quilted all the designs with no marking or rulers.  I like this one's simple and whimsical look.

This is my favorite block in the quilt.  It was my first attempt at a curved grid.  I love the look of it!  I'll be quilting this design again.

A curvy feather wreath that fills in the whole square.

This one is a bit difficult to see.  It's a curlicue feathery design sewn diagonally across the block.

 Wavy vertical lines.

 A partial flower.

 Blue corner lines.

Curvy lines meandering diagonally across the square.

Here's a pic of the top before quilting.  Binding next!

Note:  The fabric and pattern for this quilt were given to me by Quilty Box at no cost to me.

Quilting the Crocker Baby Quilt ~ Part One

This is the Crocker Baby Quilt top.  This pattern is by Jeni Baker.  It was included in the May 2020 Quilty Box.  You can read my first post about this quilt here:  Crocker Baby Quilt

Note:  The fabric and pattern for this project were given to me by Quilty Box at no cost to me.
I'm quilting all of the half square triangle sections with back and forth lines over the gray triangle and sunbursts over the yellow triangle.

I'm having fun with the 36 squares, quilting a different design in each one.

I quilted them all freehand, with no marking or rulers.

I'm quilting this project on my Juki TL98E.

I used four different colors of King Tut thread by Superior: Silver Bullet, Obsidian, Edwardian Blue, and Olde Golde.

The batting is Hobbs Heirloom Cotton.

The fabrics are from the Pottery Collection by the Quilting Cowboy for Windham.  I supplemented these fabrics with a few golds and grays from my stash.

I'm having so much fun quilting this project!  I can't wait to finish up and show you the rest of the blocks.  It's like a sampler of quilting designs.

Stay at Home and Sew Masks

I've been super busy with secret sewing for the last month or so.  Thankfully, I've finally finished those projects and life is back to normal?  Not really.  Our world has changed so much in the last 30 days.  I like staying home, but it's been quite hard on my husband, and the kids have had a difficult time transitioning to remote learning for school.  Yesterday I began sewing masks.  I used Jenny Doan of Missouri Star's tutorial, How to Make an Easy Face Mask.  The fabrics shown are from a recent Quilty Box.  They are the Bungalow collection by Amy Gibson, for Windham ~ so pretty.  I used flannel for the lining fabric so they are soft inside. They were easy and fun to make.  I love the way the sewing community has come together to make masks.  Are you sewing masks?  How many have you made so far?
