Little Peach Cottage

Little Peach Cottage is cute!  And a little therapeutic.  I'm starting to miss quilting.

Here is a back view of the cottage.  I chose a nice dark chocolate brown for the roof, doors, and part of the shutters.  I'm going to paint a few of the shingles with a different color, like they've been replaced after an especially windy storm.  Maybe a hurricane?

The most surprising thing about painting Peach Cottage is the durability of the acrylic craft paints I'm using.  I did not go out and purchase new paints.  Rather, I pulled out my eight to twenty year old collection that has been sitting in the bottom drawer of an old metal file cabinet out in my shed.  I'm sure everything's been frozen and melted from the heat and cold many times over, but they're still in fine condition for painting!  Just amazing.

Here's the front view so far.  All peachy and chocolatey with a bit of snow and a small Christmas wreath hung on the front door.  So welcoming.  I wonder who will live here?  A small animal, I'm sure...maybe a little mouse or a rabbit.  I'll have to be on the lookout for just the right resident.

Quilting Break

I've just finished up a quilt and I need a little quilting break.  It's getting close to the holidays, so I'm going to work on painting this little Christmas Village house.

I've selected a peachy color for the exterior walls.

It's a little darker than I anticipated, but it'll do.

It's been a while since I've painted one of these.  It's fun!  More pics to come next time.

Violet Posies Quilt Homecoming

My Violet Posies quilt is home!  I love when my quilts come back home.  Everyone wants to cuddle them when I unpack the shipping box, including me.  For now, the Violet Posies quilt is hanging in my living room.  I try to rotate my quilts out quite a bit.  It's a fast and fun way to quickly change the decor and feeling of a room.

Violet Posies quilt pattern by Jennifer S. Thomas

If you would like to sew your own Violet Posies quilt, the pattern is in the current issue of McCall's Quilting.  "Fabulous Quilts for Fall Sewing" it says at the top of the magazine.  Don't you just love sewing in the Autumn?  I do.  I open the door to my studio and let the fresh cool air blow in.  Soon the leaves will be putting on their annual show.  Such an inspiring palette of color, all those bright leaves against a gray sky.
