Flurries Quilt in Quilter's World Winter 2023 Issue

This is the Flurries quilt.  Do you see the blue and white snowflakes gently floating down on a crisp, quiet morning?

Disclaimer:  The fabric for this quilt was provided by Island Batik.
Flurries is one of three quilts I made with Island Batik's English Lavender fabric collection.  These are the six fabrics I used for this quilt.

Here is one of the Flurries blocks.

This quilt was made before I moved last summer.  It had quite a journey on it's way home to me from photography at the magazine.  It was accidentally shipped back to my old home.  There was a tense two weeks during which I thought I would never see this quilt again, but luckily it was recovered and eventually made it to my new home where it is currently being loved and displayed in my living room.

Here is a photo of Flurries from the magazine, Quilter's World.  If you follow me on social media you've probably seen this quilt before.  I'm so far behind on my blogging, but I'm going to try to get a few posts written today and out to you this coming week.

This is the issue of Quilter's World that features the Flurries quilt.  It's the Winter 2023 issue and you can still purchase it online from Annie's.  They only have a few print copies left, but you can also get a digital copy if you prefer that format.  Here's the link to purchase:  Quilter's World Winter 2023 Issue

If you make a Flurries quilt, please share a pic with me on Instagram @curlicuecreations.  I would love to see your quilt!

Party Streamers Quilt in Annie's Americana Quilts

Meet Party Streamers, my new red white and blue quilt!

The Party Streamers quilt and pattern are in Annie's new Americana Quilts book.  This book includes 11 patterns to sew patriotic projects in red, white, and blue!
Get your copy here:  Americana Quilts

For my Party Streamers quilt I used these gorgeous fabrics from Island Batik. The blues are from the Royal Crown collection.  If you saw my Puff Quilt post, I used Royal Crown for that project, also.  The reds are blender fabrics and the white is Island Batik's solid white.

The block for the Party Streamers quilt is simple, but when you put them together, you get a beautiful, intricate looking design.

Here's a full shot of Party Streamers.

I love this picture, too.  Here it is hanging on my farmhouse front porch. You can see my Quilt Trail block in the upper right corner.

I used Aurifil thread and Schmetz needles to make my quilt.

I just love red white and blue quilts.  I have made many over the years.  It was really fun to do another one.

I quilted in a loopy meander all over, my favorite quilting motif.

You can really see the quilting well on the back.

Red, white, blue ~ Pop!

The Party Streamers quilt finishes at 66" x 82" so it is big enough to cuddle or use on a twin bed.

Quilting close up.

Beautiful blue backing and red binding.

Party Streamers pretty folds.

The Village Star Quilt

The Village Star quilt is featured in the new Annie's book, Quilting for the Home.
The on-point setting gives it a unique look.

This quilt is sewn with two similar blocks.  This one, with the orange crossing lines,

And this one with the green crossing lines.

I used Island Batik fabrics to sew my quilt.  See the pretty backing fabric?  It coordinates perfectly with the top.

I used the Warm Company's Warm and Natural Cotton Batting and did straight line quilting on a diagonal out from the center of the quilt.

I used the same green fabric as the outer border for the binding.

This pretty folded view shows off the fabrics and quilting.

Uphill Downhill Quilt

 Introducing...the Uphill Downhill quilt!

This quilt was made with Island Batik's new Paisley Park fabric collection.  These fabrics were generously provided to me by Island Batik for this project.  Thank you so much!

This quilt features two crossing blocks with lots of flying geese units.

The second block has slightly different construction and showcases the purple and white fabrics.

It's backed in another beautiful blue Island Batik fabric.  Swoon!

I used Warm and Natural cotton batting by the Warm Company.  It always quilts beautifully and makes for a cuddly warm quilt.

I quilted with Superior Threads King Tut in Wisteria Lane.

This quilt looks ready for a crisp Spring evening on the front porch.

I feel so lucky to be an Island Batik Ambassador and get to sew with these color drenched fabrics every day.  I love, love, love Island Batik fabrics!

The simple straight line quilting diagonally out from the center is a great accent for this crossing block design.

I used the same purple fabric as the outer border for my binding.

This is an intermediate level quilt pattern.  If you've been making beginner quilts for a while and are looking for something a bit more challenging, this may be a good fit for you.

The Uphill Downhill quilt is waiting for me tonight.  I hope I can get a little relaxation time with this quilt and watch Jeopardy!  That record breaking contestant made it over $1,000,000 last night!  Did you see it?
