Mulberry Square was my quilting UFO challenge project for the month of April. I quilted the whole 99" x 99" square top. Because the quilt has a scrappy look to it, I approached the quilting with a scrappy theme, too. I used up all my leftover bobbins, and quite a few spools of quilting thread that were previously almost empty. I intend to complete this quilt for my June UFO challenge.
Yesterday, I spent all of my sewing time weaving in the loose thread ends. I never do this as I quilt along. I always wait until the end and do it all at one time - ugh! So tedious!
Here's a little pic of the quilt back. The back is pieced. When the quilt is complete, I'll try to get a photo of the whole back up for you to see. I like this pic, because you can see a lot the quilting designs I experimented with on this quilt.
Now on to my problem! I usually match the binding fabric to the outer edge fabric on my quilts. Because this is such an old UFO, I'm sure I don't have any more of that fabric. What color fabric should I use? Should I try to get as close as possible to the outer border color, or punch it up with something else? This quilt has a lot of gold, purple, green, and blue. Help!!! I need suggestions!
