This is my Wild Heart table runner. It's my April challenge project for Island Batik Ambassadors.
Quilt Story: My heart has been broken and stitched back together so many times that I wonder if the stitches will hold. Yet, my heart continues to be wild and not listen to my head.
Disclaimer: The products used to make this project were given to me by Island Batik and industry partners.
This month Island Batik and Aurifil Thread teamed up and challenged the Ambassadors to make a crazy quilt project.
Each Ambassador was sent an Aurifil Color Builder thread set. I received Walking Palm. It has two solid green threads and one variegated thread. These three threads are 50 wt.
I chose to use Island Batik's Playful Purples 10" precuts for my project. I felt like the green threads would contrast well with the purple fabrics to show off the decorative stitches.
Shops that are currently selling Playful Purples include:
Hancocks of Paducah
Missouri Star
The Quilted Beehive
I used a Schmetz 75 piecing and quilting needle for this project.
I paper pieced the heart blocks using three crazy heart patterns from EQ8.
Then I had fun using the decorative stitches from my Janome Memory Craft sewing machine and all three of the Aurifil Walking Palm threads.
This is the third Wild Heart block.
I used Hobbs Heirloom Fusible Cotton Batting for this project. I really love to use fusible batting on small projects that I will not be quilting on my frame. It's super easy to use, and you can always re-iron if some of it comes unfused during the quilting process.
Here is the Wild Heart table runner on my kitchen table. It just fits!
I used my Accuquilt strip dies to cut the borders for this quilt.
Here is a close up of my favorite decorative stitch used on this project.
I used Island Batik's Dandelion Jelly fabric for the binding.
Here's the back of my quilt. I used up the last of my stack of Playful Purples to make a pieced backing.
Be sure to visit my fellow Island Batik Ambassadors to see the crazy quilt projects they've made for April. The variety and inspiration is amazing! Here's the list:
