Welcome 2012!

Frosty Quilted Table Runner

Welcome 2012!  Did you make a New Year's Resolution?  I did.  I'm going to work more on those machine quilting skills.  Practice, practice, practice.  Here's a close-up of the Frosty Quilted Table Runner I'm working on.  There's some stipple quilting in the background of the tree (I tried to make it look windy), squiggles going down the tree, and some really close vertical free form lines running up and down the trunk of the tree.  The straight line quilting on the blue background came out pretty good.

Scissors Ornament

Here's the one quilty gift I received for Christmas.  It's a scissors ornament.  Perfect for the quilty collection.  I have it hanging on the wall in my studio.

Singer Fashion Mate

In shopping news, I picked up this Singer Fashion Mate sewing machine at the Goodwill.  It got great reviews online and looks to be hardly used.  It does, however need a few parts.  We'll see what it does when I get it all together.

Pine Tree Quilt Block

Candy Cane Quilt Blocks

And, in my spare time,  (Ha!Ha!) I got out one of my old UFO's to work on, the Christmas Quilt Block of the Month.  I made this nifty Pine Tree Block using some unusual colors.  I'm going to try to include these fabrics in some of the other blocks for this quilt, too.  The Candy Cane blocks, I made years ago, when I first started working on this one.  I'll keep you updated, if I can stay on task with this!

Also, coming up in just one week, January 11th, I'll be the guest blogger at the Quilting Gallery.  Please stop by this excellent site, and look around.  I will be having a fun giveaway in my guest posting.  Hope to see you there.

Until next time...please visit the Curlicue Creations shop, say "Hello", and have a super day!

  1. What a steal on the Singer machine. I'd love to find something similar for my 19 year old niece who lives in Richmond. She mentioned wanting one during costume making time at Halloween. Like the look of your blog right now. Sandi
