Brother 220 Super Streamliner Pink Sewing Machine and Shoes!

My thrift shop finds for the week - A Pink Brother 220 Super Streamliner sewing machine, with matching pink shoes!  I'll look so stylish while sewing.  I suppose I need to sew up a pink polka dotted dress to complete the ensemble.

This machine clearly hadn't been run for quite some time.  It had minimal lint, but needed a lot of SMO (sewing machine oil).  I got it up and running, but the motor is sparking a little.  My husband got involved, and took the motor apart, but didn't resolve the problem.  From reading online, the sparks may go away after running the machine for a while, or they might not.  I could replace the motor with another one.  I'm sure I could find one in my machine collection, but....it wouldn't be pink.  What would you do?  Please leave a comment below.

Isn't this adorable?!?  I found this treasure in a local thrift shop this week,  Only $20.00, so I brought her right home with me.  This tiny machine's base measures approximately 5" x 8".  The machine itself is 6" tall if you include the spool pin.  

As you can see, it's a hand crank, and it works.  The needle plate is stamped "Itty Bitty Made in England".  I still need to clean her up a bit, and from the looks of my photo, I need to clean the window sills on my front porch, too.

Elna Super 62 Vintage Sewing Machine

I'm so excited!  My husband brought home this somewhat beat up old Elna Super 62.  I can't wait to get her cleaned up, maintained, and sewing.  I've heard these old Elna Supers are real workhorses.  Lucky me, she came with the original manual and a box full of cams.  Should be fun! 

This is the carrying case.  It's pretty neat.  See the cutout?  It fits around the bed of the machine for maximum sewing space.  Yahoo!  

Earlier this week I cut out and prepared these two baggies of squares.  They will be my test subjects, when Elna is ready to roll. More to come on that quilting project, soon.

Singer 99K

This lovely Singer 99K joined my sewing machine family yesterday.  According to the Singer site, it was born on July 20, 1955.  Amazing!  Almost 60 years old and still in pristine condition.  This machine appears to have been well cared for, and has little mileage.  The decals are in excellent condition.  Everything is still factory shiny - very clean!  But still, I will make it a priority to clean, oil, and lubricate all parts.  Sews a nice seam right now.

This is the case it came in.  Cool!  I like the two tone look of it.  The 99K was manufactured in Great Britain.  It is a 3/4 size machine, straight stitch only.

This machine was so well cared for it still has the accessories in the box and an owner's manual!  Yay!  Normally I have to look for an owner's manual online.  I'm so happy to have the original.
