Elna Super 62 Vintage Sewing Machine

I'm so excited!  My husband brought home this somewhat beat up old Elna Super 62.  I can't wait to get her cleaned up, maintained, and sewing.  I've heard these old Elna Supers are real workhorses.  Lucky me, she came with the original manual and a box full of cams.  Should be fun!

This is the carrying case.  It's pretty neat.  See the cutout?  It fits around the bed of the machine for maximum sewing space.  Yahoo!

Earlier this week I cut out and prepared these two baggies of squares.  They will be my test subjects, when Elna is ready to roll. More to come on that quilting project, soon.

Do you own any vintage machines?  Do you have a favorite?  Leave a comment below.

Have a lovely day,

Jennifer Schifano Thomas

    1. Hello Wendy! I believe I've seen a pic of your Viking once upon a time. You should give her a little maintenance and cleaning. Some of the old machines are really fun to use. Have a lovely day!

  2. I have a 221 Featherweight bequeathed to me by my Mother-in-law. I named her Fern after her. She sews like a champ and I take her every sewing meeting.

  3. I wished I'd kept my Elna Super back in the day but I traded it in for Carina Air. I miss that machine. I still have the Carina which is still considered an an antique. I also have my Mothers featherweight. I use a Janome which now makes the Elna. Sometimes I want an old mechanical machine just for the heck of it.

  4. I have a 1966 ElnaSuper 62c, my mother bought new (right after I was born) and gave it to me when I was in my 30's. She's easy to work on and still going strong. Ellie is a workhorse. :)

    1. Have you tried looking online for a manual? You may be able to find a download somewhere.

  6. Got 6 vintage Elnas, 1 newer Elna, 1 Elna vintage serger, one vintage Elnita, one Janome jr, one BabyLock vintage serger. They are all different but I tend to use my 62C more. Need to spend more time with the other ones.
