Knitting at the Library

My local library just started a new program, the Knitting Club.  They meet every other Monday afternoon.  I went a couple of weeks ago to try it out.  I am not a great knitter, but I do enjoy working with yarn sometimes.  I can knit a dishcloth.  I can knit a simple scarf.  I once knitted a sweater with a cute little hedgehog on it for my then 3 year old son.  But that's the extent of my knitting prowess.  I wanted to try something a little more challenging...fingerless gloves.

So far, it's not going too well.  The lady leading the group is wonderful and very knowledgeable.  She was able to help me get started on my gloves.  Also, the children's librarian, Miss Patty is an accomplished knitter.  She was helpful and friendly (as always), as well.  But my gloves, well, I started them over at least four or five times during the club.  I ended up knitting about an inch of the ribbing, and haven't worked on them since.  I know I can do this, I know I can, I know I can, "said the little blue engine".  Will I get back to them before next Monday's meeting?  I hope so.

Anyway, in light of all that, I decided to put a couple of knitting books up for sale in the Curlicue Creations Shop.  The first book is Kaffe Knits Again.  If you are at all familiar with Kaffe Fassett's work, then you know this is a gorgeous book, filled with radiant colors, and busy patterns.  I love it, and I confess, I actually have another copy of this book to keep in my own library.

The second book is The Disney Book of Knitting by Melinda Coss and Debby Robinson.  This book features all the classic Disney characters.  Friends like Mickey Mouse, Daisy and Donald Duck, Snow White, and many others.  It features patterns to make items for all ages, and also boasts an excellent techniques section, with clear diagrams of each stitch used throughout.  Adorable book, hopefully a more serious knitter than myself can enjoy it and put it to good use.

Until next time...have a super day!

Mark Your Calendar! Quiltmaker Blog Tour Coming Soon!

Please mark your calendar for May 2, 2012, and be sure to visit my blog on that day.  I will be participating in the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks,Volume 5 blog tour, along with an enormous amount of other talented ladies.  I'm sure you'll want to visit their blogs, also.  I'll be unveiling my block from the magazine,  and of course, I will have a giveaway or two.

Sorry I've been so quiet lately, things should get back to normal soon!  I was a little busy of late.  I got married on April 10, 2012, in a little wedding chapel.  It was so romantic!  Above is a photo of Wes sliding on my ring - a glorious moment, so tender.

And this photo shows my little family, from left to right, Gavin, Me, Wesley, Trent, and Levi.  What a happy day.  I was so thankful that my parents, and Wes' brother and sister-in-law were able to attend.

Now that we're back home, things are settling down and returning to normal.  Back to the three C's - cleaning, cooking, and cuddling.  I should get some quilting time in there somewhere, too.  If you haven't visited the Curlicue Creations shop recently, please pop in and look around.  I'm hoping to add some recently acquired goodies to the Craft Book Section today.

Until next time....have a super day!
