New Pattern! Rock the Boat

I have another new pattern to share with you today.  This is the Rock the Boat pattern, in the new Summer Fields fabric collection by Island Batik.

Summer Fields should be in your local quilt shop now.  In fact, I have one 2-1/2" strip pack of Summer Fields left in the Curlicue Creations shop as I write this.  Here's the link:  Summer Fields 2-1/2" Strip Pack  It won't last long.  Island Batik pre-cuts always sell quickly.

The Rock the Boat pattern sews a 74" x 86" quilt.  This is great for a twin size bed, or snuggling on the couch on an icy cold winter evening.

This pattern is sewn using quick and easy strip piecing methods.

Rock the Boat is fast, fun, and easy to sew.  Rotary cutting - simple, straight piecing.

I quilted Rock the Boat in an allover swirl with white Aurifil thread.  The swirl quilting gives the illusion of water and movement.

I used this beautiful blue Island Batik fabric for the back of my quilt.

I used blue for the binding, too.  This blue matches the outer border of the quilt. I like my binding to match the outer border fabric in my quilt so it blends into the edge of the quilt rather than contrasting with the edge.

New Pattern! Starberry Harvest

New pattern alert!  This is the latest Curlicue Creations pattern, Starberry Harvest.  This quilt features dazzling stars and crossing blocks in a variety of blues, greens, and purples.

It features Island Batik's new Mystery fabric collection by Claudia Pfeil.  This is my favorite collection of the season.  I love the way the blues, purples and greens play together.  The Mystery fabrics should be in your local quilt shop now. 
 

The Starberry Harvest quilt features two blocks, the Starberry block,

and the Harvest Crossing Block.

It's a scrap style quilt, with the blues, greens, and purples artfully mixed across the top.

I quilted it in an allover loopy meander with a neutral color thread.  

This quilt sparkles draped across my front porch glider.  It's so chilly and icy today.  I can only dream about the warm spring days to come when I can enjoy this favorite spot for hand stitching once again.

The Starberry quilt is backed in a deep rich purple Island Batik blender fabric.

I made the binding out of the same purple and blue fabric as one of the border fabrics.  This quilt has a two tone border to add a fun touch and some extra interest. 

 

Lovely folds.  Look at those gorgeous jewel tones!
