Lindy Hop Quilt and Pattern

Introducing Lindy Hop!  This is the third quilt I made to coordinate with Berry Crush, my signature fabric collection with Island Batik Lumin Fabrics.

Berry Crush is available in local quilt shops now, along with the Lindy Hop pattern.  I used all 20 of the fabrics from the Berry Crush fabric in my quilt.

Here is one block I made for this quilt.  The curves are so easy to do with fusible web applique.

Chessie was my companion whilst making Lindy Hop. She loves a good piece of batting.  So cuddly!
Here's a few photos of the completed quilt that I took today:

This photo shows the backing. I used the Redwood fabric from Island Batik's Ravishing Reds collection.  This fabric is always available.  I love how well it coordinates with the Berry Crush fabrics.

This pic shows one block, quilted.  I love the way the loopy meander quilting adds texture to the quilt.
I used Aurifil 2410 for the quilting and Hobbs Heirloom Premium Cotton Batting (my favorite).

Lindy Hop is on my front porch glider, ready for this beautiful Spring like weather we are having today.  This is my favorite place to hang out at home.

Close up Lindy Hop.

A pretty pink petal.

Lindy Hop, rolled up to show the binding.  I used the same fabric for binding as the skinny outer border.  It's my favorite fabric in the Berry Crush collection.  I love the deep dark purple with the berry design.

Lovely folds.

Mr. Spots got a pic with Lindy Hop and a little peek of sunshine.  It's such a nice day today.  Chessie is his Mama.

Starry Dawn Quilt and Pattern ~ New!

A new year and a new pattern.  2023 is going to be a great year, I just know it.  This is the Starry Dawn quilt.

Starry Dawn is a log cabin variation that incorporates a star block in the middle, where the chimney fire would be in a traditional log cabin block.

The Starry Dawn pattern is available in my Etsy Shop and in select quilt shops across the USA.
It is one of the quilts I made for the Island Batik catalog.

My son Levi, assisted with the photo session for this quilt.

I used Island Batik's new Baby Bloomers fabric collection to make the Starry Dawn quilt.  Island Batik provided the fabric for this project.  Thank you, Island Batik.

I used Hobbs wool batting and quilted an allover loopy meander.

Pretty folds.

I backed this quilt with this colorful Jellybean fabric, also by Island Batik.  Isn't it cheerful?  It makes me feel good, just looking at these colors.

I made my binding from the same purple fabric as the outer border.  I do that with most of my quilts.  I like the binding to match, not compete for attention.

Another look at the Starry Dawn quilt.

Postcard Quilt and Pattern ~ New!

This is the Postcard quilt, one of my newest patterns.  It's featured in the Island Batik catalog.  This pattern is available in my Etsy shop. and in select quilt shops across the USA.  I used Island Batik's new Silverado Canyon fabric collection to make this quilt.  Island Batik provided the fabric for this project.

The Postcard quilt is made using two variations of this block.  It is a simple, yet lovely block to sew.  This is a good project for newbie sewists, and a fun one for more advanced quilters looking for a quick finish.

The blocks make a pretty X where they come together.  I used Aurifil thread to quilt an allover loopy meander.  I also used Hobbs batting and Schmetz needles or this project.

The azaleas were in full bloom when I took the Postcard quilt's photo session.  Very different from this freezing winter day!

Postcard quilt draped on my front steps.

The backing fabric is a coordinating gray, also by Island Batik.  The binding is a deep blue fabric from the Silverado Canyon collection.

Pretty folds.

Nectar Quilt and Pattern ~ New!

This is the Nectar quilt, one of my newest patterns.  It's featured in the Island Batik catalog.  This pattern is available in my Etsy shop and in select quilt shops across the USA.  I used Island Batik's new Bee Hive Buzz fabric collection to make this quilt.  Island Batik provided the fabric for this project.

These are the fabrics I used from the Bee Hive Buzz collection to make the Nectar quilt.  This is one of two quilts I made with this collection.  The other quilt is Beewax.  I made it for one of my Island Batik Ambassador projects this year.  You can see that quilt and read my post about the Beeswax quilt here:  Beeswax Quilt Blog Post

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I love fusible applique projects.  My favorite part is sewing little zigzag stitches around the edges of the patches.  I used matching Aurifil thread to secure my applique pieces for the Nectar quilt.  Aurifil makes the perfect color threads to match Island Batik fabric ~ so lovely!

Here's a pic of the center medallion block of the Nectar quilt, after quilting.  You can see I echo quilted inside the petals of the large flower.  I also echo quilted around the edges of the entire applique motif.

Here's a close up so you can see it a little better.  I used Hobbs Natural Cotton Batting and Schmetz needles.

The Nectar quilt is backed with this gorgeous yellow Island Batik fabric, and bound in black.

A few more glamour shots.  Here, on my front porch.

Hanging with the azaleas.
