Violet Posies Quilt Homecoming

My Violet Posies quilt is home!  I love when my quilts come back home.  Everyone wants to cuddle them when I unpack the shipping box, including me.  For now, the Violet Posies quilt is hanging in my living room.  I try to rotate my quilts out quite a bit.  It's a fast and fun way to quickly change the decor and feeling of a room.

Violet Posies quilt pattern by Jennifer S. Thomas

If you would like to sew your own Violet Posies quilt, the pattern is in the current issue of McCall's Quilting.  "Fabulous Quilts for Fall Sewing" it says at the top of the magazine.  Don't you just love sewing in the Autumn?  I do.  I open the door to my studio and let the fresh cool air blow in.  Soon the leaves will be putting on their annual show.  Such an inspiring palette of color, all those bright leaves against a gray sky.

Oh Kitty!

Just a quick hello today!  I wanted to share this photo of my kitty "helper" William.  See how helpful he is - holding down the lid of my sewing box so no fabric scraps can escape?  I especially love how he is sticking out his tongue like he's saying, "You thought you were going to sew tonight?  Try and get past me!"

Sewing Sanctuary

A few months ago, my husband brought home this free camper that he found on Craigslist.  A couple of the windows were broken and some of the trim was missing.  The owner decided he would rather give it away than do the repairs. My husband parked it, fixed it up a little, declared it was never going anywhere, and finally decided I could have it.  It's my new sewing sanctuary.  I am lucky enough to have a room to sew in our home, but with three boys and my husband, there is never any quiet.  I love them very much, but having a quiet escape all my own?  Wonderful.

I haven't done any prettying up yet, just setting up and organizing so far.  Here's my sewing table, surrounded by lots of big windows and natural light.  See all the vintage machines tucked away under the table?  It's ready to go.

I put my old cutting mat on the kitchen counter.  Perfect height for cutting.  Plus lots of drawers and cabinets for supplies.

A vintage child's desk and another seat for when the kids feel like making something.

Boxes of organized supplies so I can actually find what I'm looking for!  I may eventually replace these with some cubes or shelving or something.

I even have a nice comfy bed for relaxing, daydreaming, and designing.  Ahhhhh!  I've already written a few patterns right here.  It is a lot easier to write when you aren't getting interrupted every thirty seconds or so (like I am right now).
