Disclosure: The materials for this quilt were given to me by Island Batik.
Today I'm showing my Modern Mini Star Quilt. This is my second project as an Island Batik Ambassador. Our challenge was to make a mini quilt, smaller than 24" x 24". My finished quilt measures 20" x 20".
I used fabrics from a few different Island Batik collections. The blue is from Sunflower Serenade. The Pink came from my Galentine's Day package. The Navy is one of my 5" x WOF strips. The balance of the fabrics are Silverado, Bubble Hole Tin, and Cantaloupe, from my Batik Foundations Bundle. I love the fun fabric names.
Here is a closeup shot of the Blue fabric ~ so gorgeous!
I used this Aurifil thread for both the piecing and the quilting. It's a taupe color.

I used the Hobbs Cotton Batting for this quilt. I quilted diagonal straight lines across the quilt with my walking foot.
This is the very petite center star. I cut and pieced this, rather than paper piecing.
It was challenging to work with such tiny pieces, but I'm not a fan of paper piecing, and I'm happy with the results.
This is another photo of my completed Modern Mini Star quilt. A pattern for this quilt is in the works and will be available soon. Sign up for my newsletter below to be the first to know when it is released.
