Chimes Quilt and Pattern

 Next up in the quilts I made with the Berry Crush collection, my signature collection with Island Batik Lumin Fabrics is the dramatic Chimes quilt.  This quilt pairs the Berry Crush collection with solid Black and White for an eye-catching, color popping design.  The blocks are arranged in an on-point setting for this project.  (Above photo by Jerry Khiev)

Here's the Berry Crush fabric collection.  There are 20 fabrics in a fabulous range of pinks and purples with hints of peach and midnight blue.  These fabrics are in local quilt shops now.  If you don't see this in your local shop, along with the Curlicue Creations patterns, please ask for them.

The Chimes blocks have a simple crossing design.  They are fun and easy to piece with full color diagrams to help you navigate the pattern.  All of my patterns feature step-by-step instructions accompanies by full color diagrams.

I used my Oliso iron throughout to press all seams nice and flat.

I use my design wall a lot while piecing quilt blocks.  I often get ideas for new designs by playing with partial blocks.  

The secondary blocks for the Chimes quilt.  These are a variation of a nine patch with a four patch in the middle so they are also a crossing style of block.

Here I'm stitching the borders onto the quilt.  I used Schmetz needles and Aurifil thread to piece the Chimes quilt.

The pink border adds some zing to the quilt!

Next ~ to the quilting.  I used Hobbs Black Heirloom 80/20 for this quilt.  The black batting works wonderfully for dark quilts like this one.  It helps keep the dark toned fabrics dark, makes everything pop, and you don't have to worry about any white batting coming through your quilt top.

I quilted a loopy meander design all over the quilt top in a variegated thread.

Here's the finished quilt photos.  I used Island Batik's Regal fabric for the quilt backing.  This fabric is part of the Playful Purples collection and is always available.

Balcony Bouquet Quilt and Pattern

This is it!  The Balcony Bouquet quilt shown in my current signature fabric collection with Island Batik/Lumin Fabrics, Berry Crush!  If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you've seen lots of snippets of this quilt in progress over the last week.  

Berry Crush is absolutely wonderful in a bold range of pinks and purples.  Just looking at this collection makes my heart happy.  It was such a joy to make my projects with this beautiful batik fabric.  Berry Crush is available in local quilt shops now.  If you don't see it, ask for it.

The Balcony Bouquet quilt is set on-point and is made with two blocks, this fusible applique block, and

this pieced block.  Mmmm...look at how the pink and purple fabrics play together and are set off beautifully by the white neutral fabric.  If you are up for a fun applique and pieced quilt, Balcony Bouquet is a great project.

This quilt made a trip to the H & H Americas show where it hung in the Lumin Fabrics booth, along with many other gorgeous projects!  I wish I had been able to attend the show.  But at least I got this photo.  

Here is another gorgeous photo taken by Jerry Khiev for the Lumin Fabrics catalog.  I wanted to take a few snow pics for this post, but I moved recently and I can't seem to figure out which box I packed my quilt in.  When I locate it, I will share some close ups.  I had the time to custom quilt this one and it is lovely!  I used Aurifil  thread, Hobbs Batting and Schmetz needles to complete my quilt.
