The Making of the Hope Quilt Block

This is the Hope quilt block pattern.  I came up with this design idea playing around with Electric Quilt.  My goal was to design a wreath applique quilt block pattern.

I used the fusible applique method.  I prefer to use Heat 'n Bond lite for my fusible applique designs.  For a tutorial on how I do fusible applique, click here:  Fusible Applique Tutorial Featuring Crabby Crab.

Here's my block with all the patches pressed in place.  See how I fussy cut the flower centers?

The next step is to secure the edges with a tiny zigzag stitch.  I used matching red, green, and yellow thread, and sewed slowly around each patch.

I love the way it looks on the back of the block, too.

This is the completed Hope quilt block.  I'm sewing three other similar floral applique blocks, and plan to put them together in a small wall hanging.  The pattern for the Hope applique quilt block is for sale in my Etsy shop, here:  Hope Applique Quilt Block Pattern
