Artsy Fartsy in Love, Part I

The July challenge for Island Batik Ambassadors is "Artsy Fartsy" featuring Aurifil thread.  I've had three different ideas for this project so far.  It looks like I'm going to try this one, using my Love applique block pattern as a starting point.  I've written all kinds of ideas on the pattern cover that I might try. I reviewed an Aurifil thread brochure to see recommended uses for some of the different thread weights I have in my collection.

I traced the pattern pieces onto Heat 'n Bond Lite and cut them out.

I'll be pulling my fabrics from this fun drawer of Island Batik in my studio.  See the solid black in the lower right corner?  I'm using that as the background.  In addition to gorgeous batiks, Island Batik also offers some wonderful solid fabrics to coordinate.  I love how the bright colors sparkle against this deep solid black fabric.  This is going to be fun!
