Did you know my Cogs Agog quilt pattern is available for purchase through Connecting Threads?
Here it is, shown in their beautiful Meadow Daydreams fabric collection.
Here's a closer look.
This quilt is a variation on the traditional Churn Dash quilt block. It's set on-point with cool blue sashing. Finished size of the quilt is 74-1/2" x 90"
Welcome to the Island Batik Ambassador (Lumin Fabrics) and Accuquilt Irish Chain Blog Hop!
I am excited to be kicking off the hop with my scrappy Irish Chain quilt made with Bright Tidings, the new signature collection for Lizard Creek Quilting.
Disclaimer: The items used to make this quilt were given to me by Island Batik (Lumin Fabrics) and Industry Partners.
This month we got to use the "surprise" bundle we received in our January boxes! So exciting! I love seeing all the new collections, and I was thrilled to receive Bright Tidings. I'd been eyeing it, hoping to get to create something with it. Lucky, lucky! Dreams do come true. We were tasked with making an Irish Chain quilt using the new Accuquilt BOB die.
Here's a look at the Bright Tidings collection. Aren't the colors so yummy? Like Christmas cookies. The designs are wonderful as well. I love the candy canes, Christmas trees, deer in the woods, ornaments, snowflakes, and poinsettias. I used every fabric in the collection to make my quilt.
Here's a look at the new Irish Chain BOB die from Accuquilt. This was such a timesaver for my project. Another name for this post could have been "How to make a quilt in 2-1/2 days!". I had too many project deadlines in April, and only had a few days left to make and blog about my quilt. It was very rush~rush! The Accuquilt die makes a 10" Irish Chain block. With the BOB dies you can cut out a whole block with just one pass through the Accuquilt cutter. It was such a time saver.
Here's another look at the Bright Tidings fabric. I also received two coordinating 2 yard cuts of fabric to go with it, one light, and one dark. I used the light fabric for my binding, and saved the dark fabric for a future project.
I also used a neutral fabric, Almond for the background in my quilt. I quickly and easily cut all of the pieces with the Accuquilt BOB die.
I made 20 Irish Chain blocks for my quilt so I could feature each one of the fabrics in a center square.
My Oliso project iron did a great job of pressing all the seams nice and flat.
I used Hobbs Tuscany Collection 100 percent wool batting, Schmetz needles, and Aurifil thread.
I was able to cut out and do most of the piecing the first day.
The second day I finished piecing the top, quilted it, and made the binding.
The third day I machine sewed the binding onto my quilt and wrote this post.
Super fast!
