For June, the Island Batik Ambassadors were given the ultimate creative freedom! A project entirely of our choice, any size, any fabrics, any day in June! I chose to make this Wild Goose Chase table runner.
I used the beautiful 10" square pack I received of the Whispering Feathers by Kathy Engle collection. These fabrics are amazing! The colors and designs are incredibly rich and vibrant. This must be one of my favorite Island Batik collections of all time.
I also used a variety of thread colors by Aurifil, including the new Verona Mauve collection for both the piecing and quilting of this project.
I used Hobbs Heirloom Premium Cotton batting. Always trouble free to quilt through.
Especially with the Schmetz Microtex Sharp Needles. These are excellent for sewing through tightly woven batik fabrics.
I cut the strips for my project with the Accuquilt Go 2" Strip Die.
This is one of the four Wild Goose Chase blocks after quilting. It was fun to quilt straight lines in contrasting thread over the black and gray stripes.
It looks so beautiful in folds.

I'm not sure where it's going to be used. I had intended to put it on my living room coffee table, but it's too big. Here it is on the front porch church pew.
I also really love the way it looks draped over this rustic black rocking chair. What do you think?
The backing fabric is gorgeous, too. This berry colored blender came with the Whispering Feathers 10" square pack as a fabric coordinate.

It looks great with the black background and contrasting threads for quilting. Perhaps you could use it on a picnic table or dress up your counter top with fruits on top.

ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful Jennifer! I love b&w quilts with pops of colour and this one is spectacular! What a lovely line too, and quilting it with the different colours of threads was the icing on the cake. Looks terrific on the black rocker in front of your black doors! Kinda cool on your husband's shed too gotta say ;-)
