Cabin Junction Quilt and Pattern in Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine!

My Cabin Junction quilt and pattern is in the new issue of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazine!  This fun log cabin variation quilt is easier to sew than it looks.

I made my quilt with Island Batik's Bee Kind fabric collection.  I love the way it matches the violas in my yard.

Disclaimer:  The fabric used to make this quilt was given to me by Island Batik.

I used my Accuquilt 2-1/2" strip die to cut most of the pieces for this quilt.  You do not have to have an Accuquilt to make this pattern, but it does make the cutting part go so quickly.

I was also fortunate to have this beautiful Sicily Yellow thread collection from Aurifil I received in one of my Island Batik Ambassador boxes.  This thread matches the Bee Kind yellow fabric perfectly.

Here is one finished block for the Cabin Junction quilt.  It's a log cabin variation and looks complex, but my pattern makes it easy!  

I quilted an allover loopy meander, one of my favorite go-to quilting motifs. I used Hobbs Polydown for the batting.  It makes it super soft and cuddly.

Winds of Autumn Quilt and a Giveaway!

 Today I'm showing the Winds of Autumn quilt.  This quilt features Missouri Star blocks and Windy Day Blocks set on point in a warm color palette.  The pattern for Winds of Autumn is in the new September/October 2018 issue of Love of Quilting.  This quilt is paired with a lesson on "quick-pieced split point units" to sew the two tone star points.

The fabrics for the Winds of Autumn quilt are from the Grace's Garden collection.  They were generously provided by Moda Fabrics.  

Here's a look at the Missouri Star block.  This block features bright berry red star points and a large center block that would be fun to showcase large quilting designs.  

The Windy Day Stars block has a nice layered look to it.  The brown cross looks like it is floating over the rest of the block.  This block was a lot of fun to piece, and it has a lovely finished look to it.

I was in a time crunch for the quilting, so I did my standard loopy meander allover design.  I used Warm and Natural cotton batting by The Warm Company and a light beige King Tut thread by Superior Threads.

Here is another close-up look at the quilt top.

Winds of Autumn is a nice size for any bed.  My bed is a King Size, so if you were making it for a Queen, or Double, it will look just as nice with a little more drape over the sides.

My Pioneer Rose Quilt is on the Love of Quilting Television Series!

 My Pioneer Rose quilt is featured on the Love of Quilting television show this season.  It is on episode #3105.  This episode already aired in some areas, but check your local PBS listings to see when it will be on in your area.  Due to family obligations, I was unable to appear on the episode with my quilt, but I am confident that the Fons and Porter staff did an excellent job presenting it. 

The Pioneer Rose quilt is an heirloom style quilt featuring many different quilting techniques. It was the cover girl for the September/October 2017 issue of Love of Quilting magazine.
