Hello! Welcome to my segment of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 11 Blog Tour. I'm so glad you stopped by. This is my block from the magazine, Aloha Flower. It's block #1014. I loved sewing this block. The Artisan Shimmer fabrics from Northcott really helped to make this block shine. I wanted to create a happy, tropical feel with the Aloha Flower block. Are you feeling it? The ocean breeze, the warm sand, the sunshine? Ahhhhhh!
This block was so lovely to sew that I made a few more, changing the color placement in each one. I did a tiny zig-zag around the edges of the fusible applique. I really like the look the zig-zag stitch gives to applique, plus I enjoy doing it. Is that crazy? I'm not sure, but that's what I like to do.
I stitched the three blocks together with some bright sashing and made this skinny wall hanging/table runner. If you want to get this look, the blue strips are 1" finished, and the red border is 2" finished. Super simple, but beautiful at the same time.
I feel so honored to be in this stellar magazine yet again. I've actually had blocks in issues four through eleven, and I'm surprised and excited as a child at Christmas every time. Volume 11 is just as amazing as the previous publications. Each one of the 100 blocks is so amazing and creative that I want to sew them all! If only there were more time....
And now for my giveaway. I will be giving away two issues today. Just leave me a comment letting me know what your favorite flower is and I'll choose two random winners at the end of the blog tour this week. Please be sure I have a way to contact you, should you be one of my lucky winners.
