I've been working on my April Project for Island Batik Ambassadors. I'm calling this quilt Citrus Star. It's mainly made using the new Citrus Sun fabric collection. For some strange reason, my cats are all seriously attracted to this quilt. This is Ragamuffin, helping me with the paper piecing pattern.
This is one of the long diagonal seams. Aren't these fabrics just gorgeous? I love that Sunflower print, and the colors ~ aren't they fabulous?
Here's a few of the sections pieced and ready to put together.
I decided to use Hobbs Black Cotton batting for this project. It quilts beautifully and will be great for these dark fabrics. Trail Mix approved.
I knew exactly how I wanted to quilt Citrus Star. Mostly straight line quilting on my Janome Memory Craft, so I pin basted it.
In this photo, I'm quilting away and snipping a stray thread with theses adorable Unicorn Scissors from Darn Good Yarn. They sent me these scissors at no charge, to write a review. Stay tuned for that soon!
And for my final photo today, Sunrise, helping me quilt. He's in love with this quilt. Every time I get up he snuggles into the quilt. It's adorable! I think this one might be for him. I finished quilting Citrus Star today. I'm working on a few other projects at the same time, but hopefully I can get this finished up and post the final reveal soon. Thanks so much for reading today.

Did you read Part One of my Ski Sweater Scrapbuster quilt? Here's the finish! This is Ski Sweater, an organized scrap quilt. It's a scrap quilt, as it's made from little bits of Island Batik fabric I've collected over four years as an Island Batik Ambassador, but it's so organized that it doesn't look all that scrappy to me, hence the "organized scrap quilt" label.
The Island Batik Ambassadors were challenged to create a scrap quilt for the month of March.

Ski Sweater was designed by playing with another idea I had previously created in EQ8. I was able to use my Accuquilt Go to cut out all of the pieces for this quilt. There are over 1600 pieces in Ski Sweater.
I made a variety of blocks in different colorways. It was fun to go through my stash looking for just the right shade or tint. The cabinet where I keep my Island Batik fabric is now a huge mess and I need to reorganize it sometime before Box 2 arrives.
The blocks for this quilt also had to be constructed in different ways as the colors in some of them (pink block) went across the block in horizontal stripes, and some of the blocks (above) were arranged so the colors cascaded out from one corner in more of a diagonal fashion. I had to pay close attention while piecing and while stitching the top together to make sure everything was oriented the correct way.
Ski Sweater is a large quilt, 68" x 84". It was too heavy to tape to the camper for photos, and too large to hang on the clothesline. My 6' tall son was busy with schoolwork on the only day this week that was not raining, so he was not available for quilt holding either. I did my best with the photos. Here it is hanging sideways on the clothesline.

I can't begin to tell you how exciting it is when you receive a Quilty Box in the mail. The anticipation of opening the box at this point is almost overwhelming! Emotions run high. What could be inside? It's a great surprise, and I've always loved surprises.
Everything inside the box is neatly wrapped inside some crisp, white tissue paper. It makes it feel even more like you are opening a gift.

This month's fabric collection is Spring Shimmer by Jennifer Sampou. Jennifer has created some beautiful fabric collections over the years. I'm a fan.
She hit it out of the park with these fabrics. You get beautiful colors, the butterfiles, gold, and some gorgeous woven textures. Sigh....it's dreamy.

This handy pair of snips was also included. I can always use another pair of these. They tend to migrate around the house wherever I'm sewing.

Aurifil thread ~ my favorite! I didn't have this gorgeous honey color and I'm happy to add it to my thread collection.
I was so in love with the Spring Shimmer fabrics that I started on the Butterfly Window quilt the same day I received my box.
It's a pretty easy pattern. Mostly you cut out squares in a few different sizes.
Look at this sweet fabric! It's like a honeycomb. I adore it.
Cutting, cutting, cutting...
And then to the stitching part. Here's some of my squares laid out to make half square triangles. I'm not following the color combinations exactly. I mixed it up a bit. The pattern is very specific and tells you which fabrics to match up for the half square triangles. I decided to create two piles of lights and darks and let randomness out to play. I sewed all the HST's together and had to pack it up for some deadline sewing projects. I hope I get to finish this top soon.
